Jean-Michel Jarre - “Planet Jarre” 50 years of music When the French composer, performer, songwriter, soundscaper and producer Jean-Michel Jarre launched his progressive landmark-debut “Oxygene” in , he opened a new chapter in music history. The record has sold millions of copies until today and laid the foundation.

Revolutions reached number #2 in the UK charts, Jean Michel Jarre's best UK chart position since Oxygene [1] - this is probably due to the large 'Destination Docklands' concert in London which coincided with the release of the album. The fact that, in my opinion, it's his best album since the early Oxygene / Equinox period probably has something to do with the records success too.

Most notably Industrial Revolution is around 5 minutes instead of the 15 on the studio album. The synth sounds used are 'too digital' and thin, there's no decent acoustic instruments to warm it up although Hank Marvin does provide good accompaniment on Rendez vous 4 and London Kid. China and Houston/Lyon are much better as live albums.4/5(23).

The album begins with the Industrial Revolution suite which comprises Ouverture and then parts 1 through 3. Ouverture has a cool mechanical rhythm to it and a melody that in its way is almost ominous. But it's incredibly catchy as far as I'm concerned. There isn't much music that really gets my blood racing, but this and Oxygene II did just that/5(71).
