   The late Fred “Sonic” Smith is certainly no unknown quantity. Whether you know him from the iconic MC5, his post-5 forays as a seriously-reppin’-for-Detroit rocker (most infamously, Sonic’s Rendezvous Band), or the beloved husband of Patti Smith, if you are even the most moderate rock fan, he figures somewhere in your record collection.

   Sonic's Rendezvous Band - - Sweet Nothing (US) w City Slang LP this Detroit band featured Scott Asheton--the other long standing Stooges member--who passed on last year and Fred "Sonic" Smith from MC5 who passed in but not before getting married to Patti Smith and having a son Jackson who married former White Stripes member Meg.

   The first four discs of Sonic's Rendezvous Band are devoted to live concerts, with each featuring a different show; while the first two discs document a talented band that displayed flashes of brilliance while still finding its feet, discs three and four (recorded at shows in Detroit and Ann Arbor in ) are little short of stunning.
