Limited vinyl LP repressing. Dream Police is the fourth studio album by Cheap Trick. It was released in , and was their third release in a row produced by Tom Werman. It is the band's most commercially successful studio album, going to #6 on the Billboard chart and being certified platinum within a few months of it's release.

Indeed, several of them—particularly "Dream Police," "Way of the World" and "I'll Be with You Tonight"—are nearly as good as the earlier ones in which Cheap Trick used similar stylistic devices. Still, Dream Police isn't as exciting as Heaven Tonight or In Color. The reason has something to do with the LP's production style.

Perversely -- and most things Cheap Trick have done are somehow perverse -- the band decided not to continue with the direct, stripped-down sound of At Budokan, which would have been a return to their debut.. Instead, the group went for their biggest Price: $
